So I guess I’ll do an ‘about me’ here or whatever, just in case anyone who stumbles upon this thing actually cares enough to read it.

Anyway. I’m Dakota. I generally go by Dak in less formal settings. I live in Omaha, Nebraska (for the locals - Dundee) with my roommate Charley and my giant orange cat Winslow. I am a dude. Apparently, I have to answer that question.

This blog is primarily about the music I am currently listening to, mixtapes I’ve put together, and upcoming shows/albums. I will also talk about math, Homestuck, tabletop gaming, and whatever occasional bit of random nonsense I’m thinking about at the moment. Musically, I’m primarily into post-rock, indie pop, and sad indie folk these days. I still have a great love of ska and punk/pop-punk I picked up in my high school days. I also listen to very large swaths of genres outside of my favorites, so even if all of those sound bad to you, it’s likely I’ll still post something you’d like. My math interests lie in dynamic systems (chaos theory) and number theory (cryptography). I DM for D&D 3.5 and also enjoy Shadowrun and Warhammer RP. I’m part of the Nebraskon tech team - 2013 will be my seventh year of being on staff.

By day, I work at the University of Nebraska as a statistical research assistant. By night, I work on starting a business with my friends - our goal is to create an awesome media company. Our main project is a video game, and we have a couple card game side projects and make miniature figurines as well. I’m on the tech team for a local anime convention (Nebraskon). My research interests lie in theology and history, but I’m ok with that just be for fun, academia really isn’t for me. In the past, I’ve worked at a restaurant, a nuclear power plant, a grocery store, and as a freelance baker. I’m a libertarian, though I don’t follow the absolute party line. When I grow up, I want to be an awesome old guy. The kind of stereotypically scholarly fellows that hangs out in a big office with a mahogany desk and a lot of books, wearing a cardigan and dispensing wisdom while smoking a pipe.

In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music (no shit, right?), gardening, randomly surfing Wikipedia, organizing tabletop games for my friends (I have a raging board game addiction on top of playing RPGs), and using way too many parenthesis (as you can clearly see)
